East High School Blood Drive on 12/6

When? The blood drive is on December 6, at 9 am – 2 pm in the ballroom.

Who can donate? Students the age of 16, 17, & 18 with a signed Parent Consent Form, faculty, staff, administration, parents, family, and community.

What should I do? Check the height and weight requirements and make an appointment - add it to your calendar! The day of, eat breakfast/lunch (you may not get to donate if you don’t) and drink plenty of water. You must be feeling healthy and well the day of donation.

What do I bring? Bring a signed Parent Consent Form (required for all student blood donors) and a picture ID with name and birthdate (learner’s permit, driver’s license, or canvas profile)

Learn more about blood donations:

· Minimum 110 pounds (there’s additional heigh and weight requirements for donors ages 16-23).

· You can donate whole blood every 56 days.

Please do not donate blood if you have experienced any of the following:

Currently:

· Have cold of flu symptoms or do not feel well the day of donation

· Have taken antibiotics within the past seven days (Antibiotics taken for acne are okay)

· Are pregnant or have been within the last six weeks

Within the past 3 months:

· Have received a blood transfusion.

· Have had a graft, such as a bone or skin

· Have had an accidental needle stick

· Have come in contact with someone else’s blood

· Have traveled to an area at risk of malaria

Ever:

· Have or are at risk for HIV (the virus that causes AIDS)

· Have ever used a needle to inject non-prescription drugs (including steroids)

· Have had hepatitis after the age of 11.
