Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college level classes and based in high school for students that plan to go to college, benefiting them by giving them a better chance of being accepted into colleges and raises the chances of graduating in 4 years saving money for students and families.

AP classes highly require extensive writing, research, and problem-solving tasks, which are crucial for skills in higher education.

Teachers prepare students with material that covers college level expectations that go in greater depth and goes at a faster pace than regular high school courses, regular day-to-day assessments, and mock exams to help to make students familiar with the expectations of AP testing, improving performance and reducing stress. The environment of AP classes encourages peer interaction and group discussions, producing effective communication skills critical for success in college.

Though AP classes are not for every student those who are, are given the chance to expand their skills preparing them by teaching them better understanding of writing skills, analyze complex text, have a better thinking process, and can take on the expectations of the college courses that they are wanting to pursue in.

The students who are considering taking AP classes should take a step back and consider the factors of, if that AP class they are looking at to take, could either benefit their GPA or be a worse outcome for them negatively affecting their GPA. Examples are if the student struggles in science, then AP Chemistry may not be for them, but if they are great at Math, AP Calculus may be an excellent idea.

The discipline and study habits develop scores on AP exams that can earn students’ college credit or give them advanced placement, giving them a head start in their college education.
