Movie Sequels Suck

By Zoe Session, November 11th 2024

When a movie or TV show is super good, it's totally normal for fans to want more of that story. This could mean a spin-off, a reboot, a new season, a book, or even a sequel. There are usually plenty of chances to dive deeper into a beloved storyline. However, sometimes a story is just fine on its own and doesn’t really need any extra movies.

“Toy Story” doesn’t need another sequel

The idea of Toy Story 5 is causing a lot of worry with fans and critics, mainly because of how the previous films ended. Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 gave us a really emotional ending that tied up the characters' stories, especially Woody's journey of finding himself and coming to terms with life after Andy. If they bring back these characters, it might ruin the touching goodbyes we saw in the earlier movies, which many people see as the perfect endings to their tales.

Additionally, the news about a fifth movie seems to be more about making money than telling a good story, which reflects a concerning trend in Hollywood where franchises are kept alive for money instead of creativity. This could risk ruining the movies of this franchise. turning it into a predictable series instead of preserving the heartfelt storytelling that originally drew in fans.

“Avatar” 3, 4, and 5” should NOT release at all

The upcoming releases of Avatar 3, 4, and 5 bring up important questions about whether they are really needed and how they might affect viewers. One big concern is the long wait since the first movie, which could make people less interested in the series. As time passes, opinions on the original Avatar have changed, revealing its predictable storyline and shallow characters, which might make it hard for the new films to recapture the excitement that made the first one such a hit.

Having viewers wait for Earth-based storylines until Avatar 5 might make viewers tired of the series, which could result in them missing the key environmental messages. With numerous sequels and franchises currently in the film industry, there's a risk that these upcoming films may be viewed only as cash grabs rather than story expansions. The case against releasing Avatar 3, 4, and 5 centers on concerns about audience engagement, narrative clarity, and the potential for creativity to suffer.

“Zootopia” Doesn’t need a sequel

Zootopia 2 is causing a lot of concern among fans of the movie. Many fans worry that Disney might focus more on making money than on telling a good story. They are also anxious about a possible romantic plot between Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Fans fear that if they become a couple, it could harm their friendship and teamwork.

Another concern is that the quality of the sequel will not be as good as the original. Also fans  are worried about the franchise making another movie about police officers because of the political climate of police. Zootopia 2 has high standards for it to be compared to the original.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” Shouldn’t be a movie

The upcoming release of Mufasa: The Lion King has caused a lot of anger among fans, leading to doubts about its release. Critics say that this prequel to the original film changes important details by showing Mufasa as an orphan without royal heritage, which goes against the original story that suggested he was a king by birth. This change has led some fans to accuse Disney of altering key parts of the tale, making Mufasa's character seem less noble.

Moreover, the film's use of CGI animation has been compared to past live-action remakes that many felt lacked the emotional impact and charm of classic hand-drawn animation. The trailer has also faced backlash, receiving over 210,000 dislikes soon after it was released, with many fans expressing a wish for new stories instead of another CGI version of a classic.
