Delta plane flight 4819, carrying 76 passengers and 4 crew members, crashed while lading in at Toronto airport at 1:15pm on February 17, 2025. While landing, the aircraft caught fire when hitting the pavement, causing the plane to turn sideways and loose the wings of the plane. The cause of how this happened is unknown and passengers are waiting for the answers they deserve.

Out of the 76 passengers there has been no announced deaths caused by the crash, however, 21 passengers remain injured. At first only 19 people had been admitted to a nearby hospital but later 2 more people had been admitted. According to Corey Tkatch the injuries consist of, back sprains, head injuries, anxiety, and “nausea and vomiting due to the fuel exposure”. 19 of the admitted patients had been released by the same day, while two others remained in the hospital due to their critical conditions.

As a result of the crash and passengers wanting answers, “Almost two dozen members of Transportation Safety Board of Canada are leading an investigation into the crash and what may have caused it”. Meteorologists said that Toronto was expected to have Icey and harsh weather conditions, leading to the conclusion that there a chance that could have been the reason for the aircraft crash. While Toronto International Airport Fire Chief Todd Aitken, said the runway was “completely dry” around the time the delta aircraft arrived. The winds at the time of the crash were 37 MPH and it was 17 degrees outside. The mystery remains for the cause of the crash, but weather is looking to be on the correct side of the crash reasoning.

The day of the crash was also an operational day for Toronto airport, causing over 100 flights to be canceled over the weekend due to heavy snowfall.

Passengers describe the crash as being “bats” because they were hung upside down in their seats. Passenger John Nelson describes the crash saying, "There was, like, a big fireball outside the left

side of the plane and when we got finished, we were upside down, everybody else was there as well," Nelson said. "We tried to get out of there as quickly as possible." Another passenger Pete Koukov, skier and sports influencer shared a video on Instagram where he is evacuating the plane, he shows the upside down plane when out of the aircraft repeatedly cursing and is under a clear, crucial, amount of stress.
