Former rugby player Louis Rees-Zammit is now on the Kansas City football team. Louis Rees-Zammit, a former Welsh rugby union star, has made a remarkable transition to American football, pursuing his dream of playing in the NFL. Born on February 2, 2001, Rees-Zammit rose to prominence as a talented winger for Gloucester Rugby and the Welsh national team1.

In January 2024, Rees-Zammit made the bold decision to leave rugby and join the NFL's International Player Pathway. His exceptional speed and athleticism caught the attention of several NFL teams, ultimately leading to a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 20242.

However, Rees-Zammit's journey in the NFL has not been without challenges. After being released by the Chiefs during the final roster cuts, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad. This move required him to adapt to a new team environment and switch positions from running back to wide receiver three.

Despite facing skepticism from some quarters, Rees-Zammit remains determined to succeed in his new sport. He has expressed his commitment to working hard and improving every day, stating that he doesn't listen to critics or "haters". His transition has been demanding, as he navigates the complexities of a new sport while adjusting to life in America.

Rees-Zammit's NFL journey is still in its early stages, and he continues to develop his skills on the Jaguars practice squad. While the path to becoming an established NFL player is challenging, Rees-Zammit's dedication and athletic prowess make him an intriguing prospect to watch in the

coming seasons. The NFL is planning on looking for more rugby players to draft to the NFL for they can play the part and adapt to the new sport.
