‘Frustrated’ Babysitter accused of smashing child’s head into an elevator wall

Sunday Aug 25th, there was a report around 8pm on a 4-month-old baby who was not conscious.
When the first responders arrived, they transported the baby to Intermountain Medical center, shortly after the child was transported to Primary Childrens Hospital's Intensive Care. For those experiencing homelessness, this incident occurred at The Road home
According to police, the child had a fractured skull, on the left and right side, and a brain bleed. The child is still in the hospital, and she has not recovered.
Zachery Walton, a family friend, age 28, was babysitting this child while the mother was at work. The child would not stop crying. He gave the child to his stepdaughter, a minor, the child continued to cry. Walton told police that around 6pm he became “very frustrated ". He claims his frustration level was “an 8 out of 10”.
Walton then decided to take the child on to the roof of the shelter so he could vape so he could “destress” he then entered the elevator carrying the child, out of so much annoyance he “smashed her head into the metal corner of the elevator where the elevator curves to the sliding doors” said the police reports. The child continued to cry; Walton told police he thought to himself “how do I get her to shut up?” Walton then began to hit the child’s head into the corner of the elevator to the point the child stopped crying.
On the rooftop the child stopped breathing, causing her heart to stop. Walton claims he started life-saving measures, but surveillance videos show otherwise, Walton carrying the child's limp body around for approximately 17 minutes while blowing on her face. Police stated after an “extreme amount of time” Walton decided to call the child's mother.
On that call Walton told the mother the child was no longer breathing, Waltons roommate told him he needed to call 911. Walton had also told the mother he shook the child when he could not get her to breathe, Walton is now facing a murder and child abuse charges after his Arrest on Sunday august 25th.
