Illegal Street Racing Event

On October 4th at around 11:30pm the Salt Lake City police started getting complaints about street racing in west valley. The police said the event was run by an 18-year-old. When the police arrived, they found two cars parked side by side.  

 Moments Later the two cars sped right by the police some police officers chased after them and arrested both minutes later. One of the drivers, 29-year-old Jean Bernier, almost hit an officer, the driver (Jean Bernier) lost control and hit a concrete sign.  

 11 cars were impounded on this night. During this illegal event` 4 were shot three men and 1one woman are injured but they are still alive. 

 Police say that street racing has gone up 54% in Utah since September 2023 to September 2024.
