By Giselle Arechiga, October 24th, 2024
With the upcoming Utah College Application week soon approaching, many scholarships are coming to a close. Be the A in BEAST (accountable) and make sure you are on time this fall.
Utah college week:
This year's Utah college application week is from October 28th to November 1st in the computer lab. With over ten colleges to choose from come down and apply during school hours without the stress of doing it on your own.
Common App:
Many scholarships ask for applicants to attach a personal essay. Colleges can either make their personal essay optional or required. The common app, an online college application platform, provides many tips and tricks to first-time applicants, especially when it comes to essays.
When it comes to application week, the biggest part that many tend to focus on are the essays. With the common app, all the stress that comes with applying goes away. The common app helps with organizing, drafting, and managing so you don't have to.
You can find more information on the standards of writing of different colleges through the common apps “Student solutions center.”
Other Resources:
It is essential to utilize all available resources to ensure your success when embarking on the upcoming week. It is never a bad idea to first console with your counselor via appointment or walk in.
As well as making sure to keep an eye out on different college fairs and information sessions, where you can interact directly with college representatives as while as different former students.

A Special Word from Grace:
When asked what advice she would give to the upcoming graduates when preparing for college, Grace was quick to offer her help with the application process to any seniors in need.
“If seniors need any help with applications that is what I'm here to help with, so hopefully I can help enough to where it doesn't feel so overwhelming. This is a really exciting time in your life so try to let it be fun, even if it feels stressful right now.”
For many seniors picking out which college is the one can feel like a battle, not knowing which one is the align with them personally while still wanting to match one's career path.
“Look for colleges that match what you are looking for, school size, majors offered, etc. As well as looking at the application & being prepared for what information you'll need to know to fill out. Stay organized by tracking deadlines so you don't miss anything too!”
