Why Sonic 3 Lost to Mufasa

Earlier this year sonic 3 came out and I know most have you have seen the memes of sonic 3 putting Mufasa in the grave but that didn’t and honestly, I thought it would have. So, the real question is why didn’t that happen, what makes Mufasa a good movie in the first place.

The first Saturday of the winter break me and a few friends went to go watch sonic 3 and we loved every second of it. Keanu Reaves did a fantastic role as shadow and those fight scenes were perfect but in my opinion Sonic 3 was just perfect easter eggs were hidden everywhere but that’s where the issue was the movie was catered to only sonic fans not leaving much leeway for others to join the franchise and enjoy the movie properly alongside everyone else.
Mufasa on the other hand is a prequal to a reboot to me just even thinking about making the movie was a soulless cash grab but as it turns out a new story told in the world of the lion king in a new style is just what it audiences needed. Seeing scar before he was scar and seeing Mufasa go from nothing to the king may seem a bit played out but on screen with the music and effect just drew people in and frankly I get it. The lion king was a classic a movie everybody has and one that everybody saw and with the success of the reboot in 2019 it only made sense to make another one.
Now while I think sonic 3 was the better movie it wasn’t for everyone and that’s why it lost out in the box office. What could sonic 3 have done better to beat Mufasa is a question I just asked myself and the answer is a complete unknown to me I don’t think there was a single thing sonic 3 could have done in promoting the film to actual filming that could have pulled in a larger audience and that’s because of the target demographic being gamers. Now to sell my I don’t
think Mufasa was a bad movie I just think sonic 3 was better and it could’ve done so much better if people gave it a chance but that could be said about everything. Am I disappointed that sonic lost to Mufasa? yes. Did Mufasa deserve the win? Also yes.
